Hey Guys,
So the guy I had lined up to paint my mini to cut a long story short is not looking like he is going to pan out. I am wondering if anyone on here knows of someone or is capable of painting my mini. I am not looking for a show finish and she has a bit of rust in her ( not heaps and in the usual van spots). I am happy with a shop or non affiliaated person and am looking for someone in melbourne or within a couple of hours.

I have spent about 6 months trying to organise this now and have not got anywhere. I am feeling really down hearted. I have got a few quotes and these have been about 6K or more (this is without seeing the car) That is more than the car cost and I am not willing to do that.
Any help would be great and I can pay cash, beer favours or a combo of all and deliver the car in any state ( complete, stripped, paint stripped)
Thanks all
David C

Hi, if you are happy to bring your car to Geelong i can recommend the guy who painted my mini. It's not a show finish, but a really good clean-up. The guy is quite cheap and do the job quite quickly. I am happy with the result on my car (keeping in mind what i pay....) Oh, and the guy is not a friend, he is a spray painter by trade.

Have a look http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... 2&start=45

Drop me a PM if you want more info.

Louis

Maybe worth a trip there and have a talk to them??

you will save a lot of money if you strip the car yourself. get some paint stripper, some cling film and get you hands dirty and you can save yourself a good part of that cost. i suggest putting down an epoxy primer on the car straight after you have stripped it - and that means the same day, as the bare metal will start rusting overnight if you leave it. get some wax and grease remover and a few cans of spray epoxy from your auto shop and you will save money

What kind of finish are you looking for? 2 pack or acrylic? A backyard job or a professional job in an oven? Where abouts in Melbourne are you? It makes it easier to point you in the right direction.

I would probably prefer 2pac as i hear that is more durable. I have seen some real good back yard jobs before so would be happy with a backyard job as long as it was still a good job. Does not have to be a show finish but still want it to look good if you get what i mean.
Thanks for the info everyone

Smokie - that is probably a bit cheaper than i want. I have a guy up here that will do that but i have seen the work they do and it is terrible.
