That's terrible.

Can i ask why didn't you just call a tow truck if it was insured?

it's not that i didn't think of it, i tried to get racv they then passed me onto accident recovery or whatever then my phone battery died.

it was towed the next day to sheens panel repair in ocean grove (who have been pretty good about all this) and is sitting there waiting for conformation from GIO that its written off, which i just got about 5 minutes ago.

So now the hunt is on for a decent body to put all the stuff thats still good into

I've had a number of things happen to my Mini's over the years, and NEVER left them on the side of the road, I've paid through the nose for a tow truck in the middle of the night, but it was worth it.

That is such bad news, but at least it was insured. Goodluck with the hunt for a new mini. And maybe you'll take things a bit easier when approching unfamilar roads :?

about 20 kids saw it happen and helped me push/carry it off the road and onto the grass out of the way. they also told me that i got air off the curb!

.....and some of them probably came back later :!:

I feel your anguish - bad enough to have an accident then to have insult to injury - turns something bad to terrible. :(

Similar thing happened to my Nephew - rolled his GTV6 on a dirt road out the back of Canberra - luckily unhurt... but had to get a lift down the mountain to get mobile coverage.

By the time we got there (only about an hour and a half) - windows had been smashed, doors forced open and damaged , stereo stripped out destroying door and dash trim.... stones sprayed against the body as the trail bikes took off...

I've been lucky - my CRX imboliser malfunctioned on the Hume Hwy at 2am one night... so I pushed it 1-2km to the Marulan servo... (road looks flat until you start doing something like that !) - and left it there until we could pick it up... no way I was leaving it at the side of the road!

Similarly when we crashed the Datto 1600 Rally car on a night stage (I was navigating) - as soon as I got home I returned to the forest with my mini to "stand guard" for the rest of the night until we got a trailer in next morning. A few trail bikers came by to "take a look"... so glad I did !

it was actually, we were playing the new Cat Empire CD (not exactly dangerous driving music) wich is excelent by the way. and as a side note i'm allready thinking of designs for the new one which will have. 2*12" 1*15" subs and 6*6" speakers all amped up of course

all the holes in the swiss chees are lining up ! Heres a tip. Piss the stereo off and concentrate on the job at hand. You would still have a mini if this was the case.

The music had nothing to do with it. It was turned down to background music, more than low enough for general conversation. just because i have a big stereo does not mean i'm constanly blasting by ear-drums out.

your post about inexperience is correct and i know that but please don't go jumping to conclusions and assume the worst of me when you don't know the details.
