Just put the subframes in my 1966 10" Moke & have 250mm clearance under the rear guard! Short arms, 10" tyres what have I done ?Even the Shocks wont fit , need to be at least 30mm longer. They are 400mm long, could Mini ones be shorter?Help someone please.

I'm not sure i get what you mean so some photo's might help . Check that the rubber cone and alloy trumpet are seated properly , they can sit on the edge and raise the suspeension up a fair bit , also check the knuckle is in the hole properly . Did you rebuild the subframe yourself or just putting it back in ?

Have you put the subframe in upside down :?:

I know that 13 inch Moke shocks are longer, but are mounted in the same location on the radius arms as the little whelers, so they should be the same length as the little wheelers.

Sub in correct way. Complete rebuild on the bench, my 5th one. All seems to be seated correctly. Only thing I noticed was a washer between the ball and trumpet and the Donuts were large from another rear end, no compression marks. I havnt adjusted the front Hi Lows yet. Could I have too large nuts?

that wouldnt make 30mm difference at the top of the shock. -

is that gap to the wheelarch with the suspension loaded or unloaded?

Mine did that when first assembled. The weight of the rear wasn't enough to squeese the grease out from the ball and cup. Also the trumpet wasn't fully home in the donut.

I had to get in the back and bounce up and down like a trampoline until she settled.

Think I have found the problem. Early models used the Mini trumpet , slightly shorter and smaller diameter flange . Will find out next weekend, so wish me luck! Thanks for all your help

If there is a washer between the ball & cup and the trumpet, and the donits are l;ike new that will have an impact.

The ratio of the thickness of the washer to the extra height gained in the suspension is around 5:1. You certainly shouldn't need the washer if the donuts are like new.
