I've got a little triangle sticker on the back of my van, inherited from the previous owner, says "warning, typically agressive and stupid young driver on board" too small to see from another car - I like the idea of one that says "don't get too close, you have no idea how crazy I am"

I let 'em tailgate all they want, and just wait for a corner or a bit of traffic to flick around & get rid of them. On the freeway I slow down on them - I had one coming back from Melbourne in the conformadore with my family, in a 110 zone dual highway, no other cars around, this dick sat on my arse, I slowed down to 80 and he stayed right there.... so I sped up again, passed a truck and he then stayed in the right lane till he went past me probably 10 k's later.... fcuking moron...

My dad had a sticker on the back window of a car that read "If you can read this, you are too close". That car was hit up the rear TWICE in three years. I reckon people ran up the back of him trying to read it.

I don't think it makes any diff if you are in a Mini or a 4x4 - the idiots still tailgate. I have had people in small cars drive so close to the back of the Jackaroo that you can't see them AT ALL! Their roof disappears behind my spare wheel.

Usually gentle braking and slowing down and they get the message. They either back off or overtake.

I remember once seeing a sticker on a mini saying something about flashing tail lights indicating that the driver was madly pumping the brakes, so stay well clear. On a mini I would believe it too.

I tend to keep a safe distance from any car in front of me. I've rearended a car once, and it's not a nice feeling as it happens.

Just today, a little dope in his escort, who lives across the road was sitting right behind me, and giving me the shits. I just dropped him off after a couple corners and roundabouts. My brake lights are still activated by that stupid pressure switch, and dont come on unless I stomp the brakes through the floor(will bleeding fix that??). If I touched em while he was behind me, it woulda been crunchy

His mate thought he was the ducks nuts on christmas night dropping a burnout right outside my house at 2am. Walked out with my trusty FU BAR, and politely told him to take it where he wasnt gonna be bothering anyone. I wouldnt be too bothered if he just did it leaving, but he continued to come back and try and do better each time.

heres something I ALWAYS do....

If the car behind me has insanely bright headlights, i adjust my mirrors so the light shines straight back into their face.

They usually change lanes pretty quick.

And as for tailgaters..... considering i usually do about 55-57 kmh on main roads, if they get too close i just drop down to 50, wait for them to pull out, then as they pass I speed back up and stare at em.

I am usually speeding, so people cant catch up..! ROFL

Seriously though the best thing I have seen was in a friends Pulsar. She had her husband install these two HUGE spotlights in the parcel shelf so whenever she was being tailgated, she would flick those on... Like a stunned roo caught in a spotlight, the tailgater usually f**ked off quickly... dazzled... confused...

Peoples, i work on the roads every day and without fail: tailgating, excessive speeds, yakking on mobiles, improper lane changes, inability to merge, etc etc. Motorists in general have no idea what the heck they are doing. Last thursday nite on the Gore Hill freeway a motorcyclist failed to drop down to the required 40klm roadwork zone limit I had imposed and came thru still doing 80 to 90klm - when he was clear, he found that the unmarked Police car following him nabbed him, i hope he loses his license. Pls be very wary driving thru roadworks and comply with the posted speed limits, etc coz if you step outta line on one of my sites, i will have no hesitation in contacting the Highway Patrol. Especially if idiots think it's fun to knock off traffic signs or cones let alone throw things at the workers. Yes i did get a friend done for neg driving on one of my sites, he got multiple charges for running down traffic cones and swerving at traffic controllers. He was told by me to stay away from my "place of work" prior to his stupidity.

i love them lil red cones they flip really well when i hit em in the truck
and not all truck drivers are pill popping maniac's some of us are straight maniac's ....... 90 percent of the time car's over take that big slow truck that is sitting on 100kmh and get in front and sit on 95 or slower so 99 percent of the time dumb car drivers deserve it and cos alot of the crap that happens i dont feel that any driver should use drugs BUT if you actully new what happens in the game you would understand....
look at it this way all the food you get from places like coles woolies safeway and all the other chains what happens is you get there and then you line up and wait to get unloaded then you sometimes have to wait anywere up to 6 hours but if you go to sleep you miss your spot cos they dont come out and wake the drivers then you have to go load ...... also if you get held up along the way and are half an hour late they reject the load so then you have to find a place to take it or sit around for another day while they rebook it then once you have unloaded you have to reload and then get the load back it is worse for owner driver as the get treated like second rate citerzens ......
then to top it all of the rta or vic roads or QRTA give drivers a hard time ok the drift of all this
if drivers did not get it through you would have no food you have no food you dont eat ya dont crap
you dont crap ya die
so all you people who continually bag us big nasty truck drivers have a long think cos with out trucks australia stops nothing moves food genral good car parts nothing so wake up
makka

well said Makka.

No matter what the vehicle is, ya can almost guarantee its bigger than your mini. And in the cases of trucks............... I doubt a mini would even leave a dent on the bullbar.

If ya dont like someone tailgating ya. Slow down and let em pass. If they slow down and match speed with ya, call the cops. If they pass and piss off, ya can always call the cops again, and tell em not to worry. If ya stop, you never know what can happen.

Makka's rite...the trucking industry is up the spout. From my experience the pro semi and b-double drivers mostly do the rite thing on my sites. I reckon u guys need to get the TWU or whatever/whoever to get a few blockaides going again to make the RTA's and the Govt's get their collective fingers out and for once 'n all and fix the industry up. Put an end to the unreasonable "timetables" and rorts that go on. After all bloke, it's the big companies and their bosses that'r screwing you guys over so that can line their wallets at your expense.

I've seen too many motorists tangle with trucks and everone of those idiots deserved getting their vehicles crunched. For chirst sakes, overtaking turning trucks, tailgating them and cutting them off wot do those morons expect.

Pls Makka next time u hit those cones just realise one of my collegues last year lost his right eye from a driver doing that. The cone's base struck him fair in the eye socket. Yip the driver was caught, charged and is being sued for a motza.

One thing i instruct my crews is to try and get you fella's thru unhindered as possible. I gots lotsa respect for you fella's but it don't stop me from siccing the Highway Patrol onto the wronguns. Safe journeys big fella.
