I have a couple of good mates I can put you in contact with who work with Matics and know where to get the bits etc. One is an ex-BMC mechanic (who did up my Auto) and the other competes in motorkhanas in his 1275 Auto Mini. Only problem is they are both in Vic.

Doc, I did think 1100 Autos were that rare? Maybe in Vic there was more of them. I've spotted a few in wreckers (less heads!) and my mate with the 1275 Auto Mini has quite a few of the 1100 Auto engine and gearboxes from cars he has wrecked over the years. :?

BTW: I grew up in the Sutherland Shire - Kareela. Then I married a Mexican!

Brett,
Well I've seen lots of 1100S & 1300 autos and owned 2 (+ the one in Brad's `matic) , but I have only seen 2 1098 autos ever!
One belongs to a mate where I used to work.... maybe I should tell him the head is no good and needs changing... for a proper 1100 one!

Kev,

Totol production for the 1100 auto was 4032
and the 1100 S auto was 768.
So the 1100S auto is very rare! They were only built for 5 months!

What head is on the Minimatic MK2? (the Mini K Auto)
Would they have the same engine as the 1100 auto?

Not all engines with studs and nuts were built in England. The Morris 1100 motors had studs and nuts and were built in Aus.

My 1100 Auto has the 12G295 head. They were standard on the 1100 auto.

M1100,
No it was not ever called a Mini K auto. (Pedr Davis got it wrong).
Or a Mk2 for that matter.
So-called MiniMatic Mk2 had the 99H motor, 998cc. I have one (3/70 build) my red car in avatar.
Head is a 12A1456. I have it here.. now cracked! :x
Original motor & box from it now propelling a `76 Blue Clubbie, hydro with Cooper discs & servo.. what a mix!

1098 auto never sold in a Mini, AFAIK. Mine is car # 1385 (so only 835 or so were built up to then). Not many built after.

Hey you should add the Morris 1300 auto to that 1100S total, they built them for years. Same car, but crappy grille.. :P

I have a lot of auto boxes and engines left over that are pretty useless to me.
willing to trade for alcohol...
there are early boxes, a+ stuff, lots of engines. frames etc...
even a spi box(with park gear) want bit of cash for that one.
And just found a spi block.... perfect.cheap. 30000kms old.
Just want to clear up my workshop

I have had a few autos- Morris 1100S/1300 and 998 MiniMatics.
I stripped and fixed the 998 when it had no forward drive.

Karcraft told me a while back all parts are available in UK, and he can get whatever I want.
Alternatively try this site- they have ALL the bits and will ship to you.

No I've not used them but Todd Miller on MM site uses them all the time.
Check his site too for info on the AP automatics.

Same box basically was used in 998 MiniMatic and 1275 Austin America. 8)

Dr Mini thanks for the links they were very helpful.
