Thinking of designing a bonnet scoop to get some cool air in my EFI intake, must get pretty hot under there in the summer, so may help with performance if air is a bit below boiling point before its fed into system.

Any one got any ideas or pics

When it comes to injection I believe the units like it best when the stock air box is still in there. It picks up somewhat cool air anyway.

have you got a roundie or clubby? if its a clubby the front end of your car is already a scoop. i've never had overheating issues, check over your cooling system and make sure its running properly and you wont have to stick a scoop on.

You'll find the air at the front of the engine or at the grille is going to be approximately the same temp as the air entering yor air filter.

Cold air induction works on cars with front radiators, Mini's radiator is off to the side (unless you have a late model MPi setup. 8) ) so the hot air leaves the wheels arch.

this is a little bit off topic, but I've always wondered, can this result in higher brake temps on the left hand side? (when compared to the right) and could it have any effect on braking, or maybe cause uneven brake performance?

Intersting, that's never crossed my mind.

But I think the brakes get real hot anyways, so an extra 60 degrees of hot air or whatever it would be, should make no difference?

if its at a lower temp than the brakes, it may end up acting as a cooling system, blowing cooler air than that temp over it. mayb, quite possibly i have no idea. who knows
