Hows this for a bad day,

This afternoon i was driving my mini around uni and some lady reversed into my front right guard at a T section, and she had no insurance.

Driving home at 3am after studying, I get pulled over by the cops and get defected hard, plus a fine for having no manual license. Plus I need to get it fully changed over to WA rego from SA (over the pits).

Exam in less that 11hours.

Looks like I'm finally gonna have to buy a bike and use the money I save riding it on fixing the mini up.

i've always thought australia should have compulsory 3rd party insurance. sorry to hear about your mini mate, what was on the defect list?

That is for personal injury to others (3rd party)

if the lady had 3rd party, her insurance would have to fix the mini, not her car.
3rd party covers what you do to others, not your own car.
unless you have fire and theft 3rd party and that explains itself

In NSW at least, it is compulsory to have 3rd party for personal injury (which only covers injuries you have caused to others in an accident in the event that you were at fault), as distinct to 3rd party property insurance. It is not compulsory to have 3rd party property or full comprehensive insurance in NSW, and I would expect this to be the case in all other states.

Dixon will have to either get his insurance (if he has comprehensive cover) or himself to chase her up for the $$ to fix his car. 8)

More fool you for driving an Un-Road worthy car and not sorting your rego out. Who has an Auto only license?

No sympathy.

I understand where you are coming from Hanra, but you try being a uni student, I have no money to pay for extra things like the mini.

The reason I haven't sorted my rego out is because I know it will get reamed when I go over the pits.

The defects were only minor: tyres, door handle, oil leak. But I know when I get it checked they will make me go over the pits and be really picky.

I only have an auto license because in SA, where I was from, it doesn't matter what license you have, I have just never got round to changing it over in WA.

I think the lady will pay up, I will go and get a quote from a panel beater and say this is how much it will cost, then do the work myself. If she wont pay up, then I can go through the insurance company and all that.
