I thought I'd seen one once, but it turned out to be a Clubby with a nose job.

The one i am getting does not have clubby lights, but it does have the clubby door handles. The engine and gearbox are gone. The guy that had it previous to its current owner removed it and will not sell it  It has cooper s brakes, seats, dual tanks and gauge cluster. I pick it up on the weekend so will post some pics then.

Hi

It is me that has been gathering this onfo.

The info I have gathered so far has the clubby type door handled cars running from 12/70 throught to 6/71. I have a 3/71 and a 4/71 both of which have the roundie tail lights.

If I remember correctly that of 1970miniK precedes both of mine so I would think it unlikely that the clubby tail lights are original fitment. It is also the only one I have on my database with these lights.

Anymore out there :?: please let me know if there is, if it is yours, a friends or in the street somewhere, get the body number, month and year at a minimum, any more info more than welcome. :D

Cheers
Steve

I've seen more than one K with lift up handles and clubby rear lights, which always made me think that very late ones were thus fitted from the factory. However, lots of people say this is not the case, including people with 1971 models. I have come to the conclusion that Mini Ks are the number one candidate for a Clubby tail light conversion. It just seems odd that I've seen hardly any 850s or Deluxes with Clubby lights, just late model Ks.

Panthersteve.

Try and contact Scarecrow720 on here. He hasn't posted on here in quite a while I don't think but I found him the Mini he ended up buying. A lift up handle Mini K.

I've seen quite a few lift up handle Mini K's so I don't believe they are nearly as rare as made out to be. Hopefully this 'myth' if it is, about rarity can be put to rest.

well the last of the round nose mini's being the mini k's with lift up handles should be around alot more, seeing as they were last off the production line...
i dont believe there was only 400, but heaps of people have quoted the same numbers, word gets round i guess.

I have said this before but the reason for lift up handles was ADR2 that came in on 1st Jan 71. It was not a special thing, just a running change to all Minis after a certain date.
The figure would have to be way more than 400 but I don't know how many, It would have been more than half a years production from Jan till the Clubman came out, so I would guess about 2000 cars at a minimum.

I have never seen any original K with Clubman tail lights. A lot of people thought it was a good idea to convert them, even Vizard!

Oh by the way, you can't really call them Clubbie handles if the K had them first. (and they were used for over a year on another car before the K got them)

Heres a pic out of the events photos from a show in Victoria.
The green one is a mini K with lift up handles and the clubby tail lights.

I have seen a mini K with clubby lights too, but something tells me they have probably had a bump in the bum in the past and the cool thing then was to put the "new" clubby rear end on when repairing.

It is not a good example of a stock K, wrong bumper, no flap on the bootlid, wrong badge, twin tanks, etc.
It is a car that has had a lot of modifications including the tail lights.
