With regards to the pics - you wont have a problem. You are not using the pictures for anything other than reference material, and the pictures are already in the public domain, therefore OK.

Grip level ratings - lets increase the number of levels e.g. 1-10

1 being absolute shite like an ice cube in a frypan, whilst 10 equates to epoxy-like grip.

Therefore, following Josh's logic, the D01J's would be 10 in the dry, 9 in the wet, compared to the SP9000's, which might be 9 in the dry, and 8 in the wet - simple and a more accurate reflection.

Hi Nick, great idea!

I reckon a rating system from 1-10 on grip (Wet & Dry) & wear rates would clarify things. Like Tricky suggested above!

Each person who has actual experience could 'vote' by pm. Then we would have a fair system to rate them.

PS A032R
wear rate 3/10
Dry Grip 10/10
Wet Grip 9/10
Price as of March 07: 205 each fitted balanced incl 4 wheel wheel alignment!

Cheers

Matt

I agree - 1-10 is a better system and generally interpreted better than words which can be subjective and take on different meaning - one mans poor is another mans great.

Really good grip, never been able lock up the front in the dry, (drum brakes  ), only the back locks up when i need to stop, which is nice as i can still steer, just not stop.

ne way... nice tread pattern

Sure can Tricky, anything for you mate :)

I have updated it but I won't post it because I don't want this thread getting too overloaded with pics of the table.

<edit> tricky, I should add (this is where it gets hard) VicMini13 has already said Great to Excellent and you said Excellent to phenominal - so I've gone down the middle and just put them as Excellent as it seems you both agree on that. Sorry but I can't please all of the people all of the time.

Keep it coming people!

I'd realy rate the tyres as phenominal, but the problem is a Mini isn't heavy enough to keep them planted on the ground hard enough to get the maximum from the tyre

Ok, 1 - 10 is a great idea.

Rather than people voting I thought I would just convert what I have been putting down into a number.

I have been ranking them like this: So that corresponds to:

Poor 1/2
Average 3/4
Good 5/6
Great 7/8
Excellent 9/10
Phenomenal 10

So I'm thinking about just changing it and them getting people to chime in if they think a rating needs to go up or down a bit (I just want this to give me a starting point that will be kinda right)

I'll post up another new table shortly.

165/60R12 Falkens are terrible.

Give me back my BALD SF226's 145/70R12 Bridgestones!

By the way, add them to the list (145/70R12 SF226). Same qualities as the 165 10" in same. Kills the wider Falkens in the wet. Very predictable tyre. I'd say they'd be about $80 a corner? I think that's what I paid for the last two a little while back.

Ok, this is where I'm at now.

Poeee, I have made changes to the table to include what you just posted but I can't be stuffed doing 7 screen shots again and putting them together until I get some more changes.

Please tell me what I need to adjust (BTW I have changed the VGrid 55 Bridgie's to a "green" background from red (i just copied and pasted and didn't realise))

If it's easier... make up a HTML page and i'll host it. Send it to [email protected]

MUCH easier to publish. 8)

Can anyone comment on the wear-rate of the D93Js? Curious to know how many k's to expect out of a set.. say, compared to the teflon-coated Falkon's or Bridgestones.

Just went and delved into far recesses of the garage and had a look at the old Hoosier carcasses that came with the Nb car.

Has markings:
165/70 10 "Hoosier" "Hoosier T.D." "Not for Highway use"

From the Hoosier web site "Hoosier T.D." relates to the compond type - and seems to closest thing to a "model" name... http://www.hoosiertireaustralia.com.au/
Listed under "HOOSIER Racing Tires - (CIRCUIT) Historic" part no 44390

(Strangely the TD does not appear on their "compound chart" )

They are a road legal tyre and they are semi-slick. The least 'slick' of the range, and the cheapest. I attribute the better wearing to the lack of wheel spin.

Another thought ...

The Sp7's arrived this morning and they are a directional tyre.
Should this be noted as well?

Being directional (like the A032R) means having a left or right tyre set up for "optimal" use. (Limits tyre "rotation" and "spares" )
(I don't think they "explode" if put on the wrong way  - but may degrade optimum handling performance. )
