Well roll me in the dirt and call me Dusty!

That's interesting Dicko.

Even comes with its own bonnet scoop.

Domino have been around for years. Pity the shells are nigh-on impossible to register in Oz. :(

Yes, true. I just meant if someone imported a shell and did a dodgy. Eg: Used a van chassis number and old rego paperwork.

It's much easier to register if you have paperwork from overseas showing previous rego from year X. They they just make you comply with ADRs for year X and don't care that it's a kit car or whatever.

On the other hand, if you import an unused bare shell it's considered a new vehicle, which means it has to comply with 2007 ADRs.... :(

See if you think about it its actually a cheaper proposition to freight a complete vehicle than it is to try and bring in a body, if anyone was serious about one of these placcy cars it would be better to have it rebodied in the UK on an old cars V5 rego papers :D there are quite a few real utes for sale at the moment from real bascket cases to restored ones

Is that true of the Chinese Moke bodies floating around the place these days?

Yes, that is my understanding. But I'm not up on the latest developments there. Debate still rages over that issue.
