It's problems with the latest phpBB software. We were ordered (actually we had to cop a US$10 for them to do it) by the web host because of "exploits that were exploited". Apparently it was one of the 2 forums which is hosted under the account ausmini is on, but was more than likely the web host tripping over the server power cable and needed someone to blame!

So... we will have to wait and see if it can be fixed, with discussions with the web host, they are the ones that "upgraded" it, and I use upgrade very loosely.

For now, you will have to put up with it.

As for the session cookie, in the configuration, it has always been set to 3600 seconds, or 60 minutes. If it is working properly, it shouldn't update the session for 60 minutes.

Well it is not waiting an hour now...

Wind up your privacy settings inyour browser till you have to OK each cookie write attempt and this is what you get on every page request now..

Then this one -

And sometimes you get this 3rd one as well

All the above occurs on every page you ask for.

I'm not saying you guys busted it - I just want it to work as normal so i'm giving you as much info as possible to assist in you tracking the problem down- cause not being able to search for new posts is giving me the sh!ts.

Doesn't happen with anyone else, other than on rare occasions.

When you browse, are you keeping everything in the same window??

What browser are you using?

I think you posted something about permissions on the avatar folders, which is a common fault with phpBB as i've found out. I've gotta get the ftp password and account off tzi so I can go in and have a look at the settings. Don't know why it would of changed because of the upgrade, but you know computers!

No one else? - I didn't start this thread!!!!!! - Why won't anyone believe me that there is actually a coding problem?!

Keeping every thing in the same windows - Yes one browser window always - do I have to create a movie of my browsing activity for you to believe this is actually happening? - or do I have to fly you over here so you can see for yourself?

Browser? = IE6 on XPSP2 but is also happens on the same machine running Firefox [running all pages in a single window]. I have tried it out on 4 other machines from 3 different locations and connection methods using different forum accounts. I get the same behaviour every time.

manual login flips me out as well. Could be related to the session cookie thing. if it does not register that i have logged in and started a session?

aye i do. these pre-config'd packages are great when they work. but when they don't, it can be a bunch of fun trying to find what went wrong :/

What ever you have done - the cookie thing is no longer happening and the site has consistantly returned to normal behaviour.

Thanks and well done.
