Looking for suggestions as to what this might be - occasionally, not every time, when moving off from stationary in the mini, I get a single bump that is quite audible and can be felt through the floor - even the mrs notices it, so it must be quite noticable!
There's no shudder, or CV type noise, just a single bump. Tends to do it with mild throttle, eg when having to move from a standstill uphill, rather than very light throttle.
Everything is pretty new in the car - all engine/gearbox rebuilt, new engine and gearbox mounts, new bushes etc. Sounds (and feels) like it is coming from roughly forward of midships.
Probably very hard to diagnose from my description, but maybe some others have experienced similar?

I think probably the little rebound rubbers under the top arms have gone awol, the grease tends to shag them. You then get metal to metal contact as the bow rises in 1st gear.
Cheap and easy to replace...

mine does that too, I reckon it's play in the top suspension arm bushes

edit: can also be from the steering rack, doubt if it's the rebound rubbers as the top arm isn't touching them at rest

not touching at rest I agree but when the front lifts in 1st gear, the arms drop heaps, particularly in a hydro car..
Mine clunked until I changed them. The grease-allergic natural (Indian?) rubber had departed from the metal bit.

hmmm, OK on the bump rubbers... I guess it's not an issue on my car cos I have at least an inch clearance there

another question, does it happen when you take off quick, or slow ?

your missus feeling it through the floor points more towards the steering rack - the felt at the left hand end wears out and lets the rack move in the housing.... test it by reversing in a straight line (slow or fast) and then going forwards (slow or fast)

after the rebound rubbers, I guess you ought to check if the engine steady bushes are tight, if you can rock the motor enough to make it go thump - the exhaust might be hitting the firewall or subframe

there are lots of things on these little cars that can go thump
