A Mate of mine has a Clubman Van and he has been told it is not a clubby and that it has had a clubby front put on it. The reason is the Guy that told him though the only Roundie Vans came out with a Magic Wand Gear Stick. Does Any one know if the some Clubbie vans came out like this or not. Tha Body does not have the Hole further Back.

He has a real clubbie van. :D The post office, qantas, and electricity county councils all got clubbie vans with a magic wand gearshift. But this is a different gearbox to the real 850 gearbox. it is simply a remote change box, but instead of having the long remote extension housing bolted to the bottm of the diff casing, it has a shorter housing to take a magic wand. The 850 gearbox has the short gearchange housing cast into the diff casing.

Your friend is wrong, Clubbie vans were produced with the Magic wand gear change in the early 70's.

I am told that a consignment was produced as mail delivery vans for the PMG at the time and these were manufactured to the lowest quality available at the time.

I own one and I believe Poeee's van is the same, so that's at least 3 of them still on the road.

The 1969 mini K van had a wand typre gear level and the early clubman vans did aswell not just the 850s.

The clubmand vans with wands were sold as fleet vehicles to city councils, the water board and things like that so your mate has an ex city council clubman van. with wand gear lever.

These later vans didn't have the 850 diff housing but a plate placed under the spot were the remote attached with slight changes in the pipe that holds the actual gear lever.

nup, never had a magic wand.... check the wiper motor for a date, to tell if it's a MK 1, check the location of the wiper arms. If it's got a clubman dash in it, does it have screw holes for the original centre dash around the keyhole in the centre of the firewall. Does it have a hole for the starter button in the little platform next to where a remote/rod change should be (where there is no hole cut)

My roundie van, a 1970, has a magic wand, but that isn't anything out of the ordanairy. Vans got all the low end stuff, including one sun visor!

The wierd thing is that I had an ex PMG 1970 Mini K Sedan, which had a magic wand! It was built for the PMG, but was sold privatly brand new (must of made too many). It had the van interior, which was the single centre speedo binnacle (the early type without the 2 guages on the side), floor dip switch (not sure if it had moved to the indicator stalk by then), real simple door cards.

To answer the original question. It is a clubman, the vans did come out with magic wands.
