What's the go with BP Ultimate supplies atm?

After driving my mini on saturday (for the first time in three months) I decided to take it out tonight after work to top up with BP Ultimate, to get it ready for tiny's sisters formal tomorrow night. My local BP had none, so decided to try one of the other two nearby. Get to the roundabout on Richmond Rd near Nirimba (heading for Quakers Hill for the locals) and the car coughs and splutters and dies. Restart it, same thing happens. Then just as I got it around the corner that familiar electric "I'm running out of fuel" ticking starts up.

Likely I had my mobile (was in two minds whether to take it when I left). Quick call to my wife who heads off to garage with jerry can and arrives with premium 95 from the third BP.

When I get mini to said garage, they didn't know when supplies will arrive and said they had been out for a month

Had to fill up with 95 octane.

Well it depends who you talk to.
BP's NZ website said it all comes from Kwinana WA.
Some say it comes from Shell via a pipe under duck creek.

Just saw this too- http://www.fordforums.com/showthread.php?t=124586

No probs here with Ultimate both the mini and the Jetta Turbo full, but we are near Kwinana.

The email I received yesterday afternoon....

Context

Kurnell Refinery has suffered a plant failure that has restricted the refineries ability to manufacture Premium Unleaded Petrol.

Purpose

The purpose of this note is to advise all customers who draw from the Caltex Newcastle Terminal, that as a result of this plant failure it has become necessary to implement allocations on liftings of PULP & Vortex 95. These allocations have been set at 70%.

Further Information

For detailed information regarding your allocation please contact the Newcastle Terminal Operations Coordinator

Caltex apologises for any inconvenience that this may cause.

That means that there will the same restrictions at Banksmeadow & Silverwater terminals.

I asked at the local BP servo last night as they have been out of 98 the last 4 times I've been there. The guy explained (it sounded like he'd been asked the same question a lot recently :) ) that NSW gets its supplies of Ultimate 98 from Brisbane, and there have been problems up there so supply is limited.

Send in the ACCC - conspiracy time

Tiny - it has a full tank of 95 now , so all is OK.
It was pinging slightly on 98, so might be worse on 95. Although it didn't seem so on the way home last night.

I've filled up once a week and my local BP has had it everytime :?

I hope that we don't run out up here - otherwise I'll have to find some other fuel :(

The guy pointed out that the rationing was a particular problem for them as they sell more 98 than any other fuel.

On a side note: More importantly why are you using Ultimate? :P I think that stuff goes off very quickly. Lillee starts to ping on that after about 1 week of sitting still. I top up on Mobil 1 Synergy 8000 lately and have had no problems.

It's what my Doctor recommended, but he probably didn't factor in my sedentary nature. Maybe I should keep some octane booster handy and dose it up before I open the garage door!

I was going to say there were no Mobil garages handy, but I think the Quix next to the RTA in the druitt dispenses mobil? :D
