ok so evryone knows the new Golf GT (the turbo+supercharged beast!), just curious if that would be possible to do to say an 1100 motor??

It's not as simple as working out how to bolt the two onto the engine. VW has spent millions getting the set up to work effectively.

The way I imagin it is a "medium" sized supercharger to provibe boost from idle till the time the "big" turbo starts to boost. Obviously it is more complex than that but if I had the time and money that's where I'd start.

I cant see any reason why not but it would be a tight fit. Alot of people do that to toyota levins and mr2s with 4AGZE engines which have a factory sc12 super charger they then fit a turbo most use a mitsubishi TDO4 . The system is set up so the super charger works at low engine rpm and vehicle speed and as engine rpm increases the super charger switches off taking load off crank and by that time the turbo is spooling fast enough for higher rpm power

i guess you'd only do it for wank and bling factor

Two different 'chargers to me would mean twice the gearbox failure.

When a blower, or a turbo Mini makes plenty of grunt there is really no need to go fruther, but by all means if you want to, go for it, have some fun!

Or "bolt" a Golf GT motor in, probably easier!

the output figures of twin chargers on the 4agze have not given any amazing power figures, and im not sure about times. but i think the tuning and setup would be very involved and hard to get exactly right without serious money for an end result that would be no better than just a turbo. but yeah, its most definitely bling factor +10. i know nothing of the golf setup though

Pardon the pun but it's a pipe dream, literally.

Not saying it's not possible, but probably not worth the effort. I think you can get an A series to it's mechanical limit with a single turbo (and not a very large one at that).

And why do it to an 1100 motor ???? It may end up going like sting and lighting up the tyres but...... You need it to stop as quickly as it goes (drums wont do that) and you need the mechanicals to stand up to extra power.

The majority of people who put big power motors in also put in the corresponding drive lines and have the whole thing engineered as they go so that its safe for everyone around when its on the road.

There are some very quick A series motored minis around but when you talk to the owners they have either spend big money repairing the failures and mistakes as they went or the spend slightly less big money by having it done properly the first time. Choose your poison
