he said it would be down there if nothing failed "without fail"

Thanks guys.

Now I have to think very carefully about my next step.

For those of you who are fascinated by this little debacle, I originally dropped the Mini off to the Spray Painter on Saturday 5th May!!

(Have you guys ever noticed I havent used the Spray Painters' company name, maybe I should name names so no-one else drops there cars off there?)

Angers gone, just replaced by despair and disappointment now! :(

Cheers,
Tricky

That is a real bummer Tricky.

To have compiled such a fantastic "visual diary" of the work that you have done on El Gato, and now be stuffed around by this guy is just cruel.

I honestly hope you find a way through this. Yes the kicking in the nuts is looking pretty good i guess.

I for one want to say you have done a fantastic job on everything you've done. Some of it has been mind-blowing  You have come up with some fantastic ideas.

To have the project spoiled by this Ar*#-wipe is just not fair.

Keep your chin up Tricky. Don't let the bugger get you down.

Dicko.

Well, I have been chatting with a few of you forum guys on the side and asking advice how I should extradite myself from this predicament. All the advice was good - thanks (you know who you are).

Dicko,

How could I get depressed with supportive mates like you around? Thanks for being there!

Anyway, I decided to pick the Mini up fromt the spray painters today and take hime home. The spray painter was not too impressed, but I just said "What do you expect me to do (insert name here), it will be 7 months on Wednesday (no joke!) that the car has been here and its still not finished?!" So in the end we agreed to disagree and I took The Cat home. We have yet to work out an amicable arrangement, but I still remain positive that there is common ground!

My neighbour over the road, whom I completely forgot about, is a foreman at a fibreglass fabrication company that make cabs for Macks and Kenworths. I rang him this evening and said 'Mate, I'm in trouble, can you help me put this bodykit on?', to which he replied, 'Sure, just tell me when and I will grab all the stuff from work'.

How cool is that - all's well that ends well!

So, Saturday wrok begins in earnest on The Pussy, and hopefully it wont be another 7 months before he is finished!

Thanks all for your support BTW - means a lot!
Tricky

Yeah you are definitely better off just taking the car back. Its unfortunate that above all else its a so called mate of yours that has let u down.

Tricky, you did a bunch of electrical work for the guy didn't you? Is it possible to go and remove a fundamental part, like the breaker box? May focus the bloke's attention.

I just heard from **** ********* that my car has been delayed due to blah blah blah and it should be finished by the end of January (!) blah blah. Mongrel.

DTrain,

No, wasnt a mate of mine, just a guy who was referred to me by the local Nissan/Holden dealer (what would they know, they are car salesman!)

Mokesta,

Yeah, did about $8k's worth of work for him, and no, not malicious like that. Hopefully he will see the light and we can still reach some sort of agreement. January now hah? They just dont seem to care, do they? Best of luck anyway!

Cheers,
Tricky

Sadly, I doubt The Law would look too kindly on that approach if The Scumbag complained.

Tricky, I think you've done the right thing -- separate the financial dispute from the job of getting El Gato finished. It's a Metric crap that the deal with your painter fell through, but life's like that.. and when one door closes, another will open ;)

Here's hoping some progress can be made! Looking forward to it 8)

Better off keeping the car out of there - who knows how much 'value' he put on your work and what if the paint job didn't turn out 100% and you had to stuff around trying to get him to sort it out?!

You did the right thing, get it done elsewhere and bill the bloke for the cash :)
