Morris 1100

have found a list of ADR's but no info on implementation dates.
( http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/motor/de ... nline.aspx )
I'm :D this topic has been aired as it now means I will have to ensure the reversing lights are provided in the rebuild of the S. Good thing I have a spare reversing switch for the remote. Will also have to source the correct tail light assemblies.

The best online copy of the ADRs that I have found is http://www.morrismini.com/adr/
Someone here posted a link to it a while back, I can't remember who, but you have my gratitude.

Yep - reverse lights were one the things they checked with my car last week - though that is a 73 it has 72 mechanicals.

With the roundnose style tail lights - how rare are the reversing ones ?
Has anyone modified a set to add reversing? How hard / succesful ?

I want to put some on the 65 Deluxe "Rally" Project.. have some midget reverse lights - but would have to butcher the boot lid to fit... so if could change the "normal" lights would be preferred...

It is not hard to add them, you can do it the way BMC/Leyland did and add the twin fillament globe holders....
or you can just hook it to the rear blinker and use a diode to stop it feeding to the front blinkers. 8)

The roundnose ones with reversing were all the Oz 2 screw design, they had a different socket with 2 contacts in it not 1.
I doubt you can buy them anymore...

our 72 clubman (built feb 72) wasn't going to pass a roady because of the reversing lights not working. I argued the point about the ADRs with the mechanic, in the end set her a challenge. I told her if she could find a new reversing switch for the car (remote change, broken switch at front of gearbox casing) I would pay for it all, and owe her a bottle of whisky. After a week, she rang me and confirmed she couldn't find a new switch let alone a 2nd hand switch anywhere in victoria. So she let it slide pass its RWC without the reversing lights. Naughty, but it worked. :D

I tried using a Triumph switch - almost the same part number .. picked up easily off eBay Uk for about 6 pounds..( +P&P)
eg (though this is listing a different part number again.... metric thread?)

Tested by the following components and seemed to work fine in the Deluxe....
but not tried under operating conditions yet.

You didn't say what it was though? Was it the connecting wires? These are often taken out. I have a melted switch here from just such an accident...

Mick for you. The guy whho re-wire my car connecy one one of the reversing wire ti the temperature sending unit. Following the wiring diagram i have been able to fix the problem. Now i have reversing light and temperatere on the guage. Still have some issue (see other tread) but it's one item off the RWC list.

It actually have a connection an the gear box, as you suggess, from then it's just a question of following the diagram.

Those connector on the gear box are quite hard to find, especially when they are covered in masking tape, painted the same colour ar the box :?

Thanks a lot Mick, your advice is always verry usefull

My car is of the 2 screw design but I had to modify it for reversing lights. Not too hard , just got a twin filament holder from a clubby and swapped it over.

Unless your going for the ultra original resto, why not do without using the indicators as reversing lights and get a pair of these

$30 from Supercheap Auto, two 50W Halogen 12V Lights. Easier to wire up and enough light to see anything behind you (almost brighter than original mini headlights )
