I paid what I thought was a fair price at NZ$1000 (about A$900). The neice of the owner had previously been offered $100, so she was thrilled with my offer. Everyone was off the opinion the registration had lapsed and it would need re-certification ($600) and another $400 to personalize the rego number so that the old plates could go back on but the old lady had put the registration on hold. That ran out in November but the govt LTSA hadn't dumped the dead numbers and all was OK. Instead of costing me the budgeted $1000 to register, it cost $83!

I thought I would move this back to the top. There are photos of the finished project on the Members Gallery page.

Do you realise this would be worth £15-£20 K over here????

Lovely find and car mate.

Hi Nige,
I am aware that 850's are bringing pretty decent money these days but I don't spend much time thinking about what my cars are worth. I simply enjoy owning a little piece of history and knowing I can go and take any one of them for a spin anytime I want to. This car is quite special because of it's low mileage and non-molested state, a real pleasure to restore.

Kind regards
Al

I know what you mean, my ex Tony Pond 1275GT rally car is worth a fair wedge, but I would never sell it. i love throwing it around tracks too much for that!

That is a truly stunning resto mate.

I hope you are VERY proud of yourself, as you say, just goes to show the younger ones there is a lot more to a mini than big wheels and engines.

I just hope my 67 Authi Blanco comes up half as nice as this, do you have a name for her/him?

Nige

Hi Nige,
Early on, this car was a little "project" to enjoy with the intent of selling it to make a few bucks but my wife claimed it. It now has a permanent home at our place and she has called it "Betty Boop".

Regards
Al
