Mort, Perhaps you're thinking of the other car in your fleet?

Seriously, as has been said, if a bag fails, the whole side will drop, I've had this happen. A big bang followed by a cloud of rusty water up through the left hand side of the bonnet.

It's most likely to be the knuckle.

Not all that difficult to replace, but do all four corners for peace of mind.

Anyone with Citroen experience will find it almost simple!

Cheers, Pottsy.

Knuckles were fine. Just a good re-greased and all is well with them.

The real problem was just one lower control arm bush (rubber) had disintergrated (I guess it is over 40 yrs old), both replaced and all back to as new 1965 motoring. :D

Another wheel allignment now - is this a home job (it is on a DS)?

Mr Subite

Easy done at home. Just measure the inside and outside edges of the rim and set the difference (the toe setting) to a mm or two OUT. Minis need toe-out to feel crisp.

That being said, as long as it has a bit of toe out the actual amount is fairly academic (within reason). If it's toeing in you'll certainly feel it!

Actually its easier to do than on a DS. Just means grovelling lower on the floor.

I use a tool I made years ago that has a couple of sliding fingers in it which I can lock in place. Makes the job even easier.

Cheers, Pottsy.
