hi all

I accidently burnt through my old line.....messy......and now i need to put a new one in, so i bought a VDO one. My problem is how do i put the ferrels (i think thats what they are called, on the ends of then lines?

Any tips?

or....where can i get a new oil gauge line with the fittings already attached.

Most auto accessories shops will have the kits. Just take in your old attachments so you get the correct one. Also think about getting a copper line not plastic that way you won't burn through it, just be careful not to kink it and take your time unrolling it so it looks better, not all bent and squiggle

just to add to the above...the brass ferrules (olives) you have on the old line were only made to be used once. They can be reused sometimes if only you can get them over the line, but to be proper you should replace them.


edit: when caught out on a fine sunday afternoon with no chance of a lift to an autoshop, i did manage to drill out a small pair of olives to get them over the line. It worked in that instance lucky for me.....

ok, so i went to repco and bought a new line, but the fittings it came with were different, and crap....no way they could hold pressure.

So where do i get a new set of olives from? How do i fit them?

Simple to fit. As they come out of the packet, you simply slide them over the end of the line. Leave a millimeter or two exposed beyond the olive and then tighten up.
