Having a dig through all my hydro suspension parts, looking for the best bits for my MkII S restoration. . noticed a few differences.
Firstly, helper springs:

What cars were the shorter springs used on? Overall, with the 'extension' section at the bottom of the spring taken into account, they are the same length - but one spring is obviously shorter than the other.

And, secondly, the reat strut sections:

Both struts appear to be the same length, diameter and thickness - what's the significance (if any) of the green and orange markings?

Anyone have any ideas?

There were 2 different helper springs, the orange one is the later, used from 1968 on.
They were used with 2 different struts but Vizard doesn't say what the difference was...

Excellent - thank's Doc. . .possibly the orange banded strut goes with the orange (longer) spring?
On second thoughts. . .nah, this is BMC we're talking about and common sense like that didn't seem to be all that. . .err. . .common with them. . . :)
