has anyone had any experience with / knows anything about farndon crankshafts? they make en40b cranks for minis and i might be able to get one at a good price but i would like to know if they are worth it. i have a feeling they are billet cranks, not forged. any help would be great. thanks

Marcello, I've got one, yes, billet, and can be expensive! :shock:

A mate in the UK used to work there, and I got a crank and a few flywheels at trade prices, couldn't afford em now though!

Good gear, they used to do F1 stuff, but mostly historic now I think....

I think I've seen a few of these up at Graham Russell's, very bling, very expensive :lol:

IMO if you can find a good small journal crank out of a morris 1100s or the like, they are good for many applications...

If you are thinking of those fancy 8 counterweighted ones Graham has, they are not Farndons, or EN40B material.
They are made in Melbourne from 1045 steel, and nitrided.
Nice crank, but cost is nearly $4K. Bit dear for road use... :lol:

<edit> the nitriding doesn't go very deep or hard on 1045 steel, but it helps. :wink:
