Hi guys,
I asked some questions on the forum recently about a Aussie Austin Cooper S that is on TradeMe here in NZ. Two further things I seek your opinions on is the dark red upholstery and carpets and the spare wheel well. It has two ribs pressed up in the floor, I'm guessing they are about 200mm long and each about 20mm wide. Are these features normal? There is no fix-down for the spare.

Best regards
Al

Looks like a really nice Cooper S . That boot floor shape is correct for a Mk2 bodyshell , the Mk1 has the hold down bracket for the spare wheel . Carpets and trim look to be about right colour , seats have correct pattern for Mk2 , carpet is correct pattern and rest of interior looks correct .... ( speedo panels should be red though , same as trim)

The very early Mk1 has the spare wheel bracket. They dropped it some time before my car was built in 68, my guess would be when they changed the floorpans.

mine have made in UK on mine, I loved the look on a few Qld mini club people when I went on a run with them . a few came up to me and said " your tyres?" I responeded with yes black and round like normal tyres, ", then they were in shock "Your driving on Aquajets!!" they are only supposed to be on show cars!!" I didn't have the heart to tell them I bought them brand new just a week before the mini run

Why do people want Aquajets on their cars?
How many Cooper S's came out of the factory with Aquajets?
They were only available from about late 1970, nearly all of the Australian Cooper S's came with Dunlop SP41s.

Looking at the date change for the spare wheel bracket, a 1967 book shows it (14A6510) and the early 1969 update shows it as "NLA" and the late 1969 book does not even mention it. So they were definitely gone before the end of the Mk1.
