Actually, I would imagine that on a blow though supercharger setup, the BOV would be even more important than on the equivalent turbo setup.
At worst with a turbo (with no BOV) you're going to 'stall' the compressor on gearchanges, meaning that there will be a bit of lag in the next gear.
On a supercharger setup, you cant stall the compressor (as it's mechanically driven) so the pressure would continue to build up in the plenum. . .I guess it would eventually blow the throttle open (maybe).

Add a set of locomotive horns in there and you'd have a wonderful symphony :D

got to the workshop and got to plumb up the beast - I bypased the intercooler set up - just to get it running.

Frustration after frustration - I got it running without boost - but when I put the boost in to the carby the bloody thing would not start or run.

Remove the boost and it would run.

I have little hair - less after the sunday morning spent looking, looking and looking.

A fresh look on Monday afternoon and I have noticed my plug I put in to one of the ports in the carby had blown out. It turns our to be the anti run on valve port - blocked it off and - Magic - the beast is alive.

It now runs (like a dog) - but I have a smile from ear to ear.

I have tweaked the blow off valve - seems to be a bit of a balance to getting the correct point of blow off. If it does not blow off it seems to force so much air in to the carby and it just keeps revving higher and higher.

Now to tidy up the install and get on the dyno - to see the HP increase.

My dodgey tensioner - I have to re do it

I have fitted a wide band Air Fuel ratio sensor and gauge and I am in the process of assessing needle set ups.

All up I am happy with the extra go for the time and $

Top work and on a budget, you cleaned up that blower well.
Any pics of the bracket holding the blower?

Ps hide the cooler for stealth

Nice. Would painting the intercooler white be more conspicuous?

100% agree. I had all these hassles trying to supercharge a 20v ITB 4A-GE engine. Basically if you didn't have the BOV to release the pressure ( as the charger is still spinning after lift-off and at 8000 rpm, well you get the idea  ) it's bye bye throttle plates...

Worst case scenario with a turbo is the air goes back against the inducer wheel and it spins off exploding into a million shards to go who knows where... hmmm, which ones worse!? :?

No wonder the little beast screams! It's got to be revving pretty hard...

I am going to get the add on, the blower setup, engineer approved - so I am not so concerned about hiding the intercooler.

To clean up the aluminium I used Ali Bright - it is a acid used to clean up after welding. I put it in a squirty bottle, gave it a dose, brushed it around and washed off - repeat, repeat.

I manufactured the bracket from aluminium and bolted it to where the old smog pump fitted - I will try to take a shot in the next day or so and post it.

3 Cylinder Jap vehicle 660cc - so it is a bit small for any large amount of boost, even for the 998.

Picture of the Alloy blower mount fitted to where the old smog pump was mounted on my 998 build.
