Hi all. Just out of curiosity, how much can you modified a standard 998 A+? And is the price of modification is worth the money. Or are you better getting a different head?

Any feedback appreciated...

Cheers, Louis

If you are wanting to mod a head, i'd get hold of a 12G202 (off an 1100) and get that done. You wont be able to drive your car while your current head is off, so get another head done!

Although ports are smaller inside, GR can mod an A+ 998 head as good as he can a 202 or 295, it just takes a bit longer and costs a bit more $$$.

you can probly do alot of the work yourself. Its really time consuming but if you stay "conservative" you wont break through anywhere.

I just did an 12g202, it cost me about $500 bucks.

Is the chamber volume of a 998 A+ the same as a 12g202?

if it is go easy on the chamber mods, I had some dramas getting enough compression. I ended up having to mill the tops of my pistons to reduce some of the dish then get the block decked 63 thou. I ended up sitting the pistons out of the block by about 5 thou. I probly have about 10-1 now.

998 head chambers are 24.5cc, a 202 head is 26.1.
