I need to replace the Harmonic Balancer on ID10CY and was wondering if anyone has a part no?

It's the later one piece type. Karcraft have a pressed steel one listed (CAM6323) but not sure if this is the correct type. It also has to have the Ign timing marks on it.

77 S has the pressed steel, tin type of pully. That is if it has the original 998 engine.
Harmonic Balancers were used on the long stroke engines, 1100 & 1275.

Hmmm. This ones definitely got a rubber mounted dampener as it has rotated and the Timing Marks are now way out. My 78 S did the same thing so it had one too. They are/were both 998's and they both have/had the big dampener.

I believe these 1098/1275 balancers are NLA now, your best bet is get Ross Balancers (Blacktown) to rebuild one.
But, if it's really still got a 998 crank in and it's a stock road motor, the 1 piece metal 850/998 pulley is OK.

I have a 78 Clubby S that had a balancer on, but it had a 1098 crank is why.

Do these pressed steel pulleys have timing marks on them?

after 20 secs with a file, they will...

<edit> here's my 1412, I put marks at 30°, 15°, and TDC.
I rev it to 4000 and set timing to 27° (found best on dyno run).

But where's the fun in that? I love reading my timing figures back to front and upside down with heaps of parallax errors in my tiny shard of a mirror! It's all part of the fun.

When I was racing Holdens I learned to add a timing mark to the hub of the harmonic balance and not just on the outer ring. (I also used a retainer plate to stop it falling apart)
You see, the outer ring can rotate and the mark can move. I finished a race and the outer ring had moved by about 50mm compared to the inner.

And I thought they were vulcanised...
I've never ever had a Mini 1098/1275 one move....

Nah, they were just pressed together with the rubber strip in between. (You can do it yourself if need be)
Holdens have a peculiar harmonic vibration at certain revs. So the harmonic damper cops a flogging. I also discovered that the balance is way off when they come out of the box so they need to be stuck on a balancing machine before you fit them.

I was following a bloke up Pit Straight at Bathurst when I saw something shoot out the drivers side of the car and the car gave a lurch and then didn't take the turn and went up the escape road. His harmonic balance fell apart and dropped onto the road while it was still spinning and it sliced through his back tyre in its travels.

I use a dolphin torch and blink my eyes at 1500 cycles a second.
