ok guys a lil while ago i posted about tinys rust problem and a solution has been found :) . a friend of dads is a panelbeater and said he will do the repairs and the respray for me for cheap if i strip the car completely for him which is fair enough.

so heres the question. can anyone help me strip tiny down ready to go to the PB?

everything needs to come out and off, and im not confident in pulling it apart myself so if anyone can give me a hand it be great.

reward....free beer and lunch on the day

Tiny to be truthful..Stripping is the easy part its the putting back together which is the hardest part :?

Best thing I can help you with..Get a Bot of Zip lock bags and a Permanent Marker. Few Boxes to place Interior stuff into..etc

You will learn many things about a Mini when stripping one down

Joe, I'd love to be able to have the time to help out,( god know's I love to take things apart... ), but as you can tell I'm in the middle of my own project at the moment, and I am finding it hard to find the time for that.... :( . Which ever way you go about the strip down make sure you make this the most important thing, get as many containers as you can , a roll of masking tape and a good marker and make sure you lable every part ,every wire and all of the other little bits that you remove from Tiny. I know what your saying about now, but believe me it makes it soooooo much easier when the time comes to put it back together...oh, and BTW good luck mate :D

once you have done it you will be confident enough to do the next one- the only way any of us work out how do stuff - is to do stuff. Enjoy :D

If your not confident pulling it apart your not going to get it together. So suck it up and be confident you can do it (Bob)
Get a good workshop manual
Get some tools
Get lots of WD40 for the stuck bolts/nuts
Use a digital camera during the process to record tricky areas!
Once apart take each bolt down to a bolt place and get them replaced (also record where they cam from and the replacement spec, then post the list and be loved by every ausmini member)

Heaps of luck and don't give up

i have got boxes apon boxes with permanent marker scribbled all over it. ice cream containers, cut off coke bottles crap everywhere. It was a bit of over kill really. Being a mini there is not really all that much to take off. Strippin is really easy.

i know what everyone is saying and its true, ill have an attempt at it i juz thought it would be a good way for all the ausmini members in sydney to get together and at the same time strip the mini down.

the plus side is ive got tiny registered again so i can start driving it again and when the guy is ready for the car ill strip it down.

um maybe - but only if you do most of it yourself - I will help if you get stuck.

Do you have a manual for your car?

Do me a favour and tell me where this rust is and how bad is it ?????

You dont need a bare body shell to repair rust unless the shell is so badly rusted that its about to fall apart.

have you understood the panel beater correctly ?? Are you sure he just doesn't want all the trim etc out of the when he is working on a particular area. All of a sudden you are turning rust repairs into a two year restoration project.
