Can anyone identify which model/engine size this cylinderhead is off? The number in the casting reads 2A629.

2A629: Inlet: 1 1/16" Exhaust: 1" Combustion Chamber Volume: 24.6cc Fitted to 850's but it can fit other small bores (but I wouldn't bother)

My list says 2A629= Morris Minor 1000, Austin A35.
2A628 = Mini 850, 998, 948 Sprite.
12A1456= Mini 850, 998, 948 Sprite.
Note that most of those A series engine lists on the web etc are wrong in one respect- all 848 and 998s (except Cooper) had 1.090" inlet valves, not 1.0625" as these lists say." :wink:

If ya don't believe me, go measure one. :lol:

Well in a galaxy far far away in a place called Cardwell, a mech whipped the head off a Morris Minor and I helped whack it on to my 998 deluxe...I had a thermostat fail shut which cooked the head in an instant....the Morrie got me back to Sydney and stayed on happily for a few months.

I had a series 2 Morrie Minor head on my 850 back in the 60s, we had ported the poor thing beyond belief. :lol:
Really, there is bugger all difference between these 3 basic smallbore heads. Valves, ports, chambers all the same size.
