Keith Davidson I think, has this one for sale. Brian Waldon from Mini Racing Australia should be able to put you in contact with him.

Looking at the airfilters behind the grille I would guess that it is a Sports Sedan.

lets just say leave it as cheap under $15000
filters hanging out of the grill belong to a pair of webbers feeding a genuine arden 8 port sitting atop a 1420cc 14:1 race engine with straight cut box, salisbury lsd and other goodies.
pretty mean machine with custom made rims, that looks tough, will most likely be at minishow in the flesh
cheers josh

Location: Sydney - strangely, I am glad of the sight of hills!!
mine has cost me more than $10k in capital costs and i still need to paint it. plus all i have is 127hp 1400cc and a standard gearbox with Fred Sayers cone type LSD. considering i don't know how to drive fast yet, i can get more power and the straight cut gearset later, i thought i did well to be doing 1:19s at Wakefield first time out on 2/h Yokahama A032s. the weekend before the fastest Nb Minis were doing high 1:16s or low 1:17s, and they would have had new tyres. Also I only have -1.5deg camber on the front wheels as I am going to use the car for khanacross and motorkhana events as well, and an outright circuit car would use more camber.

If you are serious, have money and want to go fast, then call Greig Malaure at Mini Classic (look it up in the how-tos). He is the expert at setting up Mini's for racing, can give you a realistic price for him to prepare the car or sell you one outright. He did the suspension setup on my car based on my requirements, and sold me the set of 2nd hand tyres. He also works closely with Graham Russell for engine work, so if you go to Greig, you also get the best engine builder as well. I know of a few of the Nb recers get Greig to prepare their cars, as well as quite a few MCCNSW members competition cars.

A good welded in rollcage will cost $4k and a small mini size trailer will cost $3k+ new. Add a paint job at $3k+ (all competitions require cars to be "presentable" plus scrutineers like a nice looking car as it indicates that other things will also be well prepared). So before you have even bought a single performance item you have already spent $10k.

Get a competition licence from CAMS with a 2 day course and there is another $1000 (including car hire).

That red one could also be an Improved Production (3J) car by the looks.

cheers
michael

There is a rotary powered front wheel drive sports sedan mini on my105.com

It was only $12K i think

Just get out there & do it... who cares what it costs? you only live once
Like my mum said to me just before she died,,, "Go out & have fun, don`t do what i did & work your arse off all your life just to die before you get to do what you want to do"

Just do it, you`ll love it.

The thread on this Rotary seems to have disappeared. Check out the engine if you are going to buy it, as it should be a 10A, not a 12A. It was built as an under 2 litre sport sedan to compete in hillclimbs. This will be the third time its changed hands in as little as five months.
