OK dumb question for the week. To replace engine mounts, do you need to remove the engine, or is it a matter of unscrewing the old mount, replacing the mount and screwing that one in..?

Mo's engine is moving and I gotta make it stop...

not a dumb question, son. there are no dumb questions, just dumb people. and judging from this prefectly legitimate question, there is a dumb person behind it

you dont need to take the whole engine out
although it can be a very very hard job to do (pushing the engine 3cm to line up holes on brackets)
marcello ill finish the post tomorrow after a good nights sleep
basically turning the engine on will help slot the bolt through after much prying with a screwdriver

I replaced my engine mounts not so long ago and all I did was unbolt the old ones and put the new ones straight in. Everything stayed all nicely lined up. Maybe I was just lucky. Maybe my mini is screwed. Who knows...

Yep you can do it with the motor in Situ but its a bugger.
you will need a nice even floor and a trolley juck to hold the Subby/Engine. Radiator side is going to be the real bugger side

diff eng mounts to the remote boxes so
i don't know if it is different. but my
eng was in

I have done the bottome Mounts and as said above jack under Gear box and lift and shcnge can be painfull.

Has any one ever used the Nolathane inserts for the Engine stay Bars at the top of the engine as I was thinking of fitting them.

Yes and still have them...just make sure you DO grease them..the Rubber on's no grease

I have put these on Wifeies daily drive two years ago with movement at all and they look brand New. You should find they come with thier own Grease
I have now put a full set on the rear subfram of Marcia and should be also going on the Front also.
Some prefer Rubber (Dr)

I had red Nolathane ones on my steady and they chopped out. So I went back to rubber. No problems.

Is there a engine mout that goes from the gear box the the subframe as i have a mount on my gear box with is off a A+ engine and since i have this box on the engine has to much movement. Was better with the old remote box as it had the back support on it.

Those red bushes are crap, there are blue coloured ones now that are much better. Could never figure out why these bushes need to be greased, they don't move or pivot. Anyone explain it to me? Steve

engine steady rubbers, i ordered them today aswell as remote change mount (the cylinder one) do i need to grease them all?
what about engine mounts?

They normal come with thier own grease...I used it on all of the ones I have replaced...Morris Wifies daily drive top stead has no wear still today and its been two years..I did them up FT
