lol...I would never turn and buy a Morris 1100.....
Hey! - Don't bag the mighty Morrie 1100's. We've had many a 1100 over the years including a few S's (Doogie even gave us a pristine 1100 S a couple of years ago).
They're just like a big comfortable Mini - if only you could get them to handle like a Mini.
We've used them in Supersprints, Motorkhanas & Khanacrosses. My father-in-law even rolled one at an Oran Park supersprint (the video tape in the onboard camera ran out about 20secs before the crash!).
Here is one of ours in action at the Hay Mini Nationals a few years ago....(it had a hot motor and was driven the 700+km to Hay - used in the khana - then driven the 700+km home without a hitch)
Alas, we don't have an 1100 at the moment (too many other Mini projects on the go) and I do miss them...........the 3rd degree burns the belt buckle gave you after the car had been sitting in the hot sun all day, the wind deflector on the drivers side window which made it almost impossible to get your bag of food through at the Maccas drive-thru, pulling the handbrake on at the lights - putting the 1100 in reverse and slowly letting the clutch out and watching the bemused looks from other motorists at the rear of the car jacked up and down about 10inches.......ahhh - memories.
You can get them to go pretty hard as they used all the same engine gear as a Mini..........although they seemed to suffer from bad rust in the sills.
I'd love to do a chop top 1100 with big wheels and air-bags........
I'd have another one.
BTW - I have a complete walnut dash out of an 1100 Vanden Plas Princess if anyone is interested.
Cheers
