Hi

Just wanna know if the grill and wheels came in white for a 64 850 (in porcelian green) as I saw some older minis are like that.

Also for the front bumper, I saw quite a few 850s on Ausmini had this 2 vertical things on both sides (I think this is called the overriders?). Is this the right version to have or the good plain ones with nothing on it?

Is it an option to have flares for a 850 back in 64?

Thanks

As for the grill, I have no idea what colour they were originally.

The two vertical things attached to the bumper are overriders - these were not standard fitment for a 850. It came with just plain bumper bars.

Flares, didn't have any. Flares didn't come standard on mini's until '69 I'm pretty sure (can someone else confirm when?). Either way 850's were never factory fitted with flares.

My 62 had overriders standard, back then 8) .
Painted grilles were only on the very first 1961 850s. After that they were chromed, your 64 should be.
No flares on anything in 1964.

I say yes to over riders and chrome grill. No to yucky flares.

ok, so that means a standard 64 850 came with overriders from factory.
I wasn't unsure about corner bars though, but it seems none were fitted accroding to what I saw so far.

Yup, the flares were not factory fitted. But I am pretty sure a while ago I read someone on Ausmini said the flares were an option - like an aftermarket thing, etc., but I couldnt find that post now :( So was it?

There were no flares on anything Mini in Oz until the Cooper S got them, 1968/9.
SA got them a bit sooner.

Surely flares would have been available aftermarket? I think this is what he is asking.

Someone would have fitted wider wheels and flairs.

Back then we used to fit wider wheels and NO flares. 8)
