Heys Guys,
I wondering if it is compolsive to have a race suit and race shoes or any other equipment like that when hillclimbing.
Also what other equipment do i need to use.
Please post me back with any useful information.

Ummmm, I think you might mean compulsory??

If you found it compulsive, you might seem repulsive and nobody would talk with you!!

It will depend on the rules of your club but it is most likely they will have requirements for a minimum of cotton overalls and perhaps leather shoes.They will probably want you to wear an approved skid-lid too.

When I used to play at Morwell Hillclimb you just had to have good shoes, long sleeve shirt and a nice tie, nothing loose in the car, bonnet strap, tight wheel nuts and brakes but that was a while ago. Maybe Jack (Smokie) on this forum can tell you, he is high up in the Gippsland Car Club, well until he moves up north in June

Clothing for speed events (Hill-Climbs, Supersprints, etc) is usually wrist to ancle non-synthetic clothing. Just jeans and a cotton or wool jumper is all you need. Or a pair of cotton overalls.
Go to a hill-climb and take a look and talk to people before you spend your money on things you don't need.

A nice strong rope and a head for height helps

The only things you need are..
fire extinguisher.
helmet (make sure it has an Australian Standards label: AS1698)
extra bonnet catch. (rope or a leather belt will do)
extra throttle return spring.

And anything else in the supplimentry regulations (supp regs)

And just make sure the car is safe. (battery secure, brakes work, etc.)

And clean , no oil leaks or mud that will pollute the track etc .

As you live in Morwell Sav, have you managed yet to visit an event at the Morwell Hillclimb? The offer to come out and see what happens, what the various classes are, how the cars are set up, what tyres people are using and what you need in the way of attire has been made quite a few times to you in the past.
The reason I ask, is that this Sunday (April 6th) is the final ever event at the Gippsland Park venue. The Power company are set to move in with their coal dredges and rip it up.
The new venue in the 'Haunted Hills' area is well under construction, but it's still months away from being useable.
There will be at least one Mini competing this Sunday, probably more and you'll find answers to your questions as well as more questions that need to be answered.

Whilst were on the topic, I thought I might throw these little tantalisers into the thread. This is the new 'Haunted Hills' hillclimb circuit under construction in Victoria's Latrobe Valley near Newborough. It will be about 1.6km in length and can be run in a variety of layouts and directions as well as being used as a sprint circuit.

Curly: Yes i have been to a hillclimb event severval times and i have seen people wear jeans and a jumper but wasn't sure if that applied to all classes, also great pictures of the new hillclimb track, i've also been to the new one, its big.

One more question to you guys

What does this mean?
Extra throttle return spring.

As a safety precaution you are required to fit an extra return spring to each carburettor throttle butterfly shaft to prevent a wide open throttle if the single return spring should break or fall off.
The standard set up on a pair of SUs is satisfactory because it uses 3 springs. With a Weber you must have 2 external springs even though there is an internal one.

You may need a car as well. Running up the hillclimb track carrying a fire extinguisher, and a throttle return spring whilst wearing full length pyjamas would just stupid.
