Hi All

Im thinking of bringing some spares and bits with me when i emigrate in a couple of months so what i want to ask is what parts are expensive in Aus?

Im going to bring some of the usual service parts like ball joints, filters etc but anything else do you think?

Anything i could make a bit on selling on as well? ive heard haynes service manuals are a good idea to bring over?

none of the regular service parts are in short supply here, plenty of ball joints, engine mounts, bushes, cotton reel mounts, oil filters etc. here and cheap enough too.

Big rare ticket items like Mambas, 7.5" S Brakes, Smiths Gauges, S gear sets, etc are the stuff to bring.

Plenty of Haynes manuals too..

how much $$ are the manuals? they sell for around $50 here

AU$60 retail..though can probably be had cheaper.

i can pick them up for about £5-£10 which is about $10-$20.

Im moving to Brisbane in July.

Good to know service parts are easy to get and cheap, i wont need to bring so much accross, wheel bearings arent cheap so will probably not buy another set to bring over now.

i would bring over as many 1275 cranks as you can, along with any disc brakes you can. they will sell well once here and if you bring enough, you will pay for your car to be shipped.

If I were you and you have space, I'd bring heavy, big-ticket items. The Internet means everything is available here, but it costs $$$ in freight to bring heavy or bulky stuff into the country.

Brake kits, hubs, wheels, even engines if you can do it.. if you're looking to on-sell and make some money, that's what I'd bring in.

Bugger the car bits bring a Box of nik naks nice'n'spicy flavoured, box of walkers marmite flavoured crisps and a large jar of branston pickle. mmmmmmmmmmm

+1 - I want a set of 6" wide ones.....but they are on the back burner for now though.

You can buy them from the UK, but the freight cost makes it prohibitive.
