Hi All
Mini K is up for re-engine and re-spray.
Not going over board, but the whole effect will be ruined by the crappy bonnet badge.
I think the badges are extinct so any ideas for a bonnet badge would be appreciated.
The standard winged type Morris badges on early cars, are they avaiable and what do they cost?
Nigel

Mini K should have a small (about 2") round badge, not the winged type... and they are different to the similar ones that some UK cars had (aren't they Mick ;))

The one I picked up a year ago (via Italian Ebay  if you were thinking of asking). They are slightly different though are the same size and fit the same base, but are actually more attractive too having a set of three gold rings around the base. This one is brand new.

I wish I had a suitable car to put it on actually...

I've been looking for one for a couple of weeks, mine fell off :(

I emailed Somerford in the UK, they don't have stock and the manufacturer no longer exists.

Yeah I had a good go at it. I made the pattern very easily, but had problems with keeping air out of the subsequent replicas I made. The clear plastics resin is very good but very thick (like treacle). The ones I made had very fine edges and looked like the original apart from all the air I couldn't get to rise to the top.

I strapped an orbital sander to the bench for vibrations and everything...it needs a vacuum box I reckon...

Anyways, Simon K has all the gear now!

Thanks for the input all of you.
I really am not fussed about the Mini K badge, just want something on there instead of the crap plastic bit, I have a good mount ring just need the plastic.
But are other badges available, I regard the mini K as just another round nose so I don't care what I put on it, just want something on the bonnet that looks good.
Once painted the Mini K decals will be gone (and not being replaced) so there will be little to identify it.
Nigel

Of course I'm not roundie bashing, just don't want people to think I must have a Mini K badge. I think I might just refer to it as a 1970 roundnose in the future, really is not much Mini K left.
If one comes up fine but otherwise I just want something to cover the hole in the bonnet.
Nigel
