Which green ?? The metallic lighter green as on Cooper S motors or the heavy dark green on earlier cars.

The light metallic one is a white knight product called alpine ??? green. I think thats what its called - I didn't have a can to verify the name.

Most decent paint places should be able to put you onto BMC engine green (think it was called Almond or alpine here) but like British Racing Green or Old English White there were a number of different versions. Some places can even pack it into a pressure pack (spray can) for you. it costs like $60 for 1 litre.

I got the Cooper S Metallic Green from Mini Car Clinic (now called Minispares I think) here in Padstow, so Northern Mini Parts should have it then.
I bet Mini King would have it too.

This was in a 1L tin, not a spray can. $40 a few years ago.
I always brush it on now, as I found spraying gives poorer adhesion.

White Knight Alpine Green is close, but I had no joy finding it last time I looked (at Bunnings).

The White Knight Alpine Green available from Bunnings in unfortunatly only available in hammertone. It's a nice match however, if it wasn't for the hammertone part (which looks great on milling machines and micrometers) ...

 Cooper S engine green
I recently found the remains of a tin of the engine paint which I bought too long ago to wan't to remember. I think the original may have made by Berger but this is an exact match from Dulux.
The Dulux colour code is 13261 and its called Metallic Green.
Interestingly this code isn't in any of my Dulux Autocolour books but there other codes with numbers either side of 13261 which look like metallics.
I've also bought a tin of engine paint from Mini Car Clinic and its an exact match too. It doesn't have its parentage on the tin just MINI346.

The original engine colour was made by Berger Paints , code CP8689 Metallic Green , but the number doen't appear on many paint sellers lists these days . Alpine Green is not a very good match, its far too light ...

:?:
AJ,
Do you know what type of paint it was? Was it lacquer, acrylic, enamel, oil based etc?

I would imagine that the original paint was enamel but I have no proof.

Can we get some info about the Metallic Beige that was used on the Mini Deluxe, Morris 1100, Mini Matic, etc. Is it still available from Mini Car Clinic?

The MINI346 stuff smells like acrylic and it skins in the tin as you brush it- it's definitely not enamel. It dries fast too.
