IMO you cannot compare a five port to a Westlake. I'd give my right one for one of these, but the fact is I will probably never afford one. The idea of the downdrought five port has everything to do with money, or the lack of it. Vizard spoke about it briefy in one of his books and said it produced the best airflow he'd ever seen out of a 5 port. Untill it leaked.

Thanks for posting the photos Asphalt. I had it all wrong thinking that the holes were bored throught the front of the head. Might have to go and play in the shed now.

With a 5 port downdraught head, you can justify a proper shaker bonnet, which is always a good thing. The only thing is it would rock back and forth and not side to side, but it's bound to be worth at least 20mph in top speed.

But I can`t imagine that such a modifikation lasts long...

Maybe better to do with an 5port alloy head...
Oh... Or you put some 4 holes in the head's frontside... ERM...

Would be damn hot to feed such a downdrought 5porter with a Weber IDA 8)

Cheers,
Jan

Someone asked about 5 port downdrought heads.
Well... Here's a pic of one:

Have a look where those 2 ports go in, there's no way you could fit rockers on those inlet valves...
Did it run, or was somebody just having a wank...

Even if it did it would be crap - the ports are still shared so the charge robbing would still be an issue - I'd give it a big thumbs down for the work involved
