Hey all,

been offered this "Cooper S" and am doubting it being genuine, i havent seen it in person as it is in NSW and im in brissie, and havent had the chance to get the body prefix etc.

the lady i was talkin to didnt know much about it, but this is what she said:
- 1380cc A series
- NOT disk front end
- few other things i cant remember (she didnt know to much about it)

anyways here are some pics, pick the car apart for me please, the innocenti flares and few other lil things i have noticed....

The sliding window doors and early model front beaver.....looks 850. Still could make an ok car if cheap enough.

To start with it has a 998 or 1098 motor not a 1380.
Cheers Pete

If the ID tag is a Cooper S (which I doubt), there are very few Cooper S parts on the car.

    The engine is a small block (998/1098cc) and at a guess I would say it's a 998.

The gearstick and engine steady near the radiator indicate a Rod Change gearbox

    The shell/doors are 850

    The suspension is dry

There are extra items that other ausmini members will no doubt will tell you

Daniel

It looks like it could be a Cooper or an 850. (probably not an S)
We need the numbers off the firewall near the master cylinders to really identify what it is, otherwise it is just a guessing competition.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but on genuine S's isn't the RH filler neck shorter than the LH one?
Peter.

Doors are 850, there's no chrome window surrounds on them.

dont think they have settled on a price yet, first was told $6000, then now saying $8000. (maybe after they truely know wat it is this may change)

it is fully rebuilt, no rust, sits in the garage not being used as her father has a respatory problem or something so cant drive it.pretty much immaculate inside and out as far as im aware.

The way its sounding ill probably put it in the forsale section for the people selling it.

Yeah, it may (may) be a cooper 997/998 still...worth checking the boot out for the brackets (or their remnants), as well as the hole under the seat, a plethora of little holes around the inside edge of the boot for the boot board as well as the obligatory ID plate and body numbers..

Looks like it could still be a nice car...
