only new to the mini scene so i hope i don't sound too stupid...
recently got my mini on the road never having owned one or driven one i have few questions... don't know if these are normal things....

1. When changing gears it seems as though the engine flat spots

2. First goes ok, then 2nd even if i accelerate slowly up just past 3000rpm i put my foot down and it sounds as though there is not enough fuel coming through it splutters.

The main issue seems to be 2nd and 3rd any form of heavy acceleartion results in flat spotting and spluttering....

1978 Clubman 998 engine with lcb extractors and rc40 system, ramflo air filter, head made to run unleaded everything elso original.
ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCHLY APPRECIATED

that's where I'd look....

the carb has a black screw in knob with a rod attached to it (the damper) at the top of the round 'bell' shaped part (the dashpot), unscrew it and see if there is any oil in there, if not, half fill it with a light sort of oil, or engine oil if you don't have anything else. I'n using auto transmission fluid

however, you really ought to get it along to an experienced mini mechanic and get them to sort it out, and show you what needs to be checked regularly
