Well golly gee (or I used words to that effect when it happened) my mini died today.

Tell me if I'm wrong but when your alternator shites its self isnt the red ALt light supposed to come on?

What happened on my car was the longer I drove it (racing home trying to gte as close as I could before the inevitable) the less power the battery had the brighter the glow of the alt light. In other words. Early this morning I noticed a faint glow of the alt light, then the blinkers would only work if I reved the engine (not at idle) then the car started to lose power then the ALT light glowed brighter and brighter until there was not enough power to run elect fuel pump and she stoped.

Friend came and charged battery from his car, alt light no longerr glowed and car ran OK (for now)

AM I RIGH ti assume
a) Battery is OK
b) Alternator has died.

i'm trying to remember the corect term for the crud but it is from the current that flows through cause's it along with the case a mini has sfa protection from the elements if you understand nod with a silly look on yer face if you dont just smile

Good point Makka it could just be the crud on the terminals..just have a look..if it looks fine take the Alt down to the electrition.
I say the battery is fine just needs recharging
