The air filter is paper element and its brand new, carby was rebuilt by a carby place and ran on the motor and tuned up. They commented about the smokey engine and when I mentioned it had only done like 2km since full rebuild, they just replied, "Oh rings just need to be bedded in". Motor runs awesome, just smokey. When you place your hand on the exhaust, you get black soot all over it, and the front of my bumber on my work car is covered in black soot as it was parked behind the austin when I was running it yesterday. The smoke colour looks blue/white actually. Im gonna stick a new generator on it in the morning (couldnt fit an alternator on as not enough room), fix the exhaust leak then take it for a good run up to the gong and back to give it a decend run and a chance to "Bed" the rings in a little more.
I just have never rebuilt a motor that has been so smokey on initial start up, running in but have seen similar b series engine like this when new and took them around 100miles to sort it self out.
