Does it hurt to change the oil filter every 3000 miles instead of every 6000 (ever second oil change)?

I think this is one of those questions where deep down you know the answer, but have to check anyway, just to be safe

No, it does not hurt...a lot of people say "oil is the best mechanic" meaning change it often :D

[edit: although running old oil through a new filter is fairly pointless...oil is cheap!!]

I change my oil and filter every 5000km, I don't see the point in doing one and not the other  .

Wot are you on about? if you look at (maybe) four oil changes per year it adds up to precisley three parts of stuff all....if you only want to run a car by only putting fuel in the tank, then, good luck
