umm just thought i'd add my 2 cents on this.....

love the concept of bmw16valve head.
may just fire off an email and (hopefully) secure one for a future build...

noticed in uk mini mag that minispeed.co.uk already sell kits for such a conversion. they dont list any price, and i'm not calling the uk.
but hey thought you might like to know...(if you didn't already )

Yes "MoreSpeed" & "Specialised Components" sell them also, (SC are the people who originally made the kits for MoreSpeed)
There is one of the SC kits offered for sale on e-bay at the moment
I`m now in the "Packaging up" process of all my kits so i will be replying to all the e-mails i`ve recieved with intrest in my kits very shortly, I now have well over 25 interested parties, but i doubt that "ALL" of those people will buy one straight away,,, maybe half will tho-> at a guess.

These things in the pic are the last little fiddly bits that i needed to finish off that i was talking about a while ago, now they`re all nearly done, just another full day tomorrow to finish them all off & de-bur them all,,, i still have to smack all the dowels into the pulley bosses etc, broach the key ways into the mini cam pulley bosses & i`m in the process of the packaging them all up thing,,, so we`re just around the corner of having them on the market




There`s actually 2 types of these little thingys,,, one is the 8v type & the other is the 16v type, (both heads are sightly different where this flange piece fits,

so as you can imagine it`s been a bit of work tidying up 2 different programs with such a finicky little ning nong of a thing to design & fit, first the 8v item , make template, make a solid alloy piece from that by hand, measure & copy etc & make up a program for the CNC machin, make up test piece, re-design it a tad & change the program & make another test piece & dummy that one up, then mod that a tiny bit & then change the program again & make another test piece & & & & etc etc etc,,,,

Then do it all for the 16v piece too

Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we`re nearly there,,, bare with me a little longer & i`ll have the whole dam lot packaged & then i`ll get to working out how much it all costs me.

With the BMW heads, compared to a mini head what is the cc difference?

Yeah, the next batches will be way easier as all the correct programs have already been set & tested with this first batch, so it`s just a matter of claming the blank down, centering & hitting the "Go" button (so to speak)

& the Bimmer 16V heads are 28cc,,, the 8V heads are 21.5cc (roughly)

is head easy to get?

aslo, this must be much better than the jap conversion which would involve an insane amount of work in comparison.

i have plenty of Twin Cam 8V cyl heads, i have only a few 16v heads tho

& yes there is way less work doing this than swaping to a complete jap engine conversion
