Mate if you are going to do that much work to your mini, ie the 1330 AND turbo, why wouldnt you just put the disk's on? Its probally going to be a small percentage of what you would spend doing that much work to it, and alot safer for you AND OTHERS on the road, you can pick up decent set-ups for around $1000 (can get rebuilt setups for about $1300)+ fitting, I got myn for a bargain. Best money I have spent on my mini,
Shouldnt skimp on b rakes, you wont regret it.
Cheers mate, good luck with the build!

Spot On. Its an easy conversion because you can use your drum b r a ke hub, although you have to run 13" wheels.
Len used a master cylinder from a Nissan Urvan bus.

Cant remember his name on here :( but a guy in SA makes a great looking kit that uses Suzuki Disks.

Just cant for the life of me remember his username/details. He has a workshop that he's happy to lend out too etc. Also does roller bearing conversions to SU's. Grrrrrr.

Gee, must be my old age.

Dicko.

Len Read from Vic wrote an article back a while ago (1989?) complete with pictures on how to fit Camira breaks to a mini. I have the article stashed in a box somewhere. If I remember it used Morris 1100 drive flanges, drum break hubs, commodore calipers, and a flat adapter plate Bolted to mount the calipers. No welding required. Len had it fitted to his 8 port turbochaged Supermini.

Bingo! Exactly what I've got. Mounting bracket is ex 14mm thick aluminium alloy plate.

I have also had the mounting bracket drawn up in CAD because I'm thinking of cutting a few pairs of mounting brackets...

Thank you all for the information - greatly appreciated :)

Hanra: Had a look at you're Honda conversion - must say very tempted to go that way.

What I'm basically looking for is the very decent braking power more than enough to stop the car. Just trying to see what other peoples ideas on conversions are etc. Doing my research before it comes time to actually purchase them.

Dont be put off by the cost of mine, i did it the expensive way round. The machine work was a bit exxy, but most people probably wouldnt powdercoat there calipers or backing plates. Ive never pushed the brakes to there limit, but they do stop very well.
