Gee Gaf, if you're offering then count on some JD's coming your way! Seriously I can't think of another way to get to MG Heritage on a weekday other than to take the day off... Even then it's hard as the second car (ie. MIN 163) is not starting!

what? no Master Kev! I put it in before and I can take it out, The issue is that Heritage are only open Monday to friday! if I take to Gaf it will still have to be in the commodore cause there is no way she is starting...

My starter in NAV jammed on Wednesday and wouldn't even allow the motor to spin at all. I just whacked it into reverse and pushed rather violently as i had the s*#t's big time and it popped out an it started fine.
What sort of $$$ is a reco starter going for?

So who's no# 3 with starter dramas this week

I paid $115? approx last year for a UK recond one, from Karcraft.
I spin it with a 550CCA Exide battery..

Speaking of batteries.. my boss has bought another LS, (got 3 now) wouldn't start without a push. Battery's ****. So I trotted up the street to get us a bigass battery. Found a 480CCA at Big W, that'll do sez me.. 8)
Came back to fit it, and not only won't the clamp bolts reach, the bloody spare won't fit!
Damn Leyland and their LS 12" wheels and big tanks..
Now I'll have to go swap for a smaller one. :x

Hmm can that count as starter trouble???

a few great things about a van.
1. You don't loose boot space because of the tank. :)
2. You can run whaterver battery u like cause nearly all will fit :D
3. The spare wheel & battery don't get soaked everytime it rains 8)
4. Much bigger boot

Doc - are you telling us you can't come up with an alternative location and mounting for the oil cooler?

As a suggestion, can the oil cooler be mounted upside down from the top of the grille opening instead of the bottom?

I've seen a Cooper S in Nth Parramatta (I think related to the Morris Minor place) with one mounted on the front bumper bar!

Kev,
In a roundnose there are few options for the cooler if you want the grille stock.
Stock S oil cooler position is about 3mm or so forward of the Lucas starter. Problem with the geMini starter is the big solenoid attached to it.
That's why I just bought a `NEW" (factory reco'd) Lucas starter, and a bigass 550CCA battery. It now spins like a top.

On a Clubbie there's heaps of room and so no problem.
