hi i want to run my van on LPG and i have a gas system out of a ford econovan is there any gas fitters out there who can tell me,
i am wondering if i could use a twin SU manifold make a pipe to put a throttle body in and the gas thing that sat in the pipe before the carb in the econovan?
do you know what i am trying to say?
or do i have to get a gas throttle body?
do you know if i could get a gas tank to go under the floor inside the gap in the back subframe and maybe where the fuel tank was?
will be only run on gas

There is/was a clubman in melbourne (havnt seen it for a year or 2) that is a dedicated LPG car. The tank took up the whole boot space and i think it ran a down draft carb (two barrel stromie or something) on a 1310cc engine ......went well but only got 150 - 200 kms max per tank (from memory) if you took it easy. only spoke to the owner briefly about it and he said you can notice the weight difference in the back of the car and had to fit hi-lo's due to this.

I saw a mini running dedicated Lpg when I used to live in ballarat. The mini was a green clubby. the tank filled the entire boot space. From memory it was running a 1.5 su. THe mini ended up in sepastapol wrecking yard back in 1999 out in the sale yard. Unsure what happended to it then.

i have a mag with the sc gas mini in it somewere.
if fuel keeps going the way it is i will have to put on gas if i can't get tanks to go under i will put the tank up behind the seats and build it in and put some speakers or seats faceing the rear or sometheing there's only 47 cubic feet so it must be used wisely.

Just remember that the price of LPG is related to the price of petrol and the government is going to increase the excise on LPG.

I am looking into CNG.

i don't know why the price of gas keeps going up they don't have to do much and we got plenty in oz we are selling it to other countries for 3 cents a litre so why do we have to pay top dollar for it.
just like meat etc all the best goes overseas our beef in the usa sells for around $4 or $5 a kg cheaper than what we pay.

Morris 1100 is on the ball with CNG but supply/availability is the problem.



LPG is actually Liquid Petroleum Gas, it is a byproduct of petroleum so it is directly affected by oil prices and demand.
CNG is actually Compressed Natural Gas and Australia has sh!t loads of it and that's what we are selling to China and Japan for 3c a liter .

The problem with CNG is availability, the petrol companies won't supply it at their stations because it's so cheap so not enough profit for their greedy little hands. Also it would mean having a 2nd gas tank at each station again too costly for the fuel suppliers as it takes up valuable space.

IMO the government should stop selling CNG to overseas (or charge them a lot more for it) and force the fuel companies in OZ to replace their LPG system with Australian CNG. But this will never happen .

No problem, I have a gas meter on the back of the house.

How much energy can you compress into a CNG tank, I bet it's way less than a similar size tank of LPG...
Pity you can't liquify natural gas at ambient temperature.

You can buy a machine called a refuelling appliance. Its a compressor plumbed into the gas mains. While your car is plugged in overnight it refills the CNG tank in your car.

I used to drive a bravo with dual fuel set-up. Either way the cost per km was the same, the only advantage was range.

To be effective would definately have to be built to suit the lpg (engine that is), otherwise the costs won't justify the expense
