I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but sorry if they have.

The latest issue of The James Bond Car Collection has a model Mini Moke with it, from the film Live and Let Die.

I'm trying to get hold of a copy but it is proving elusive. :(

If anyone has a spare copy, or their local newsagent has a spare copy, please let me know. :D

Even the distributors have no available stock.

I realise now that you will all rush out and try and find your own copy, but if anyone snaffles two, I might be interested in taking one of them off your hands. Of course, I don't want to end up with a dozen of them.

The magazine apparently includes the history of the Mini Moke (will be interesting to see what they say about it) a Mini Moke poster and scenes from the film.

Check out http://www.jamesbondcars.co.uk/index.htm and click on back issues. It is Issue 24, but for some reason is the only issue that does not list the official model as coming with the magazine!? :?

The magazine sells for $19.95, but most places only get in enough for orders.

By the way, this is the only issue of the magazine that has a Mini or Moke with it.

Cheers,
Watto.

There were a number of yellow Mokes used in the final underground fight scene in Thunderball.

I don't know anything about Mokes in Moonraker, but that's possible as well.

This one was apparently used somewhere in Live and Let Die, and was driven by Bond and a friend, or something, somewhere in the Mediteranian, or somewhere. It has a blue and white striped roof, not unlike the Mokes from The Prisoner. Until I get hold of a copy, I won't know any more than that, and I'm getting frustrated! :?

Cheers,
Watto.

I think you should hire Moonraker.

According to wikipedia, they were used in 4 Bond films!

James Bond films You Only Live Twice , The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker where they were used as runabouts in the villain's headquarters.[19][3][20] They were also featured in Live and Let Die when Bond and Rosie Carver go to meet Quarrel Jr.

Have you read the story behind that song?

Paul McCarthy was told by his agent on Friday they were looking for a theme song for the James Bond movie in production.

Paul bought the book saturday morning and read it by Lunch - penned the words and music in the afternoon - call some musicians together Sunday and recorded it - By Monday the tape was in the Bahahmas and the Director loved but then wanted someone to record it - Pauls agent said - no that is the recording after some argument it was agreed and it was the first movie theme to go #1 on the hit charts

Cool, now I don't have to hire the movie just to see the Moke. It isn't much of a staring role. Makes you think the magazine publishers were running out of ideas for cars by Issue 24 - "Hey lads, how about we find something really bizarre, that Bond drives for at least three seconds?" "OK, how about this funny beach buggy thing."

Doesn't Woger speak wuverwy Fwench!

Paul McCarthy
:? :?:

Wasn't he one of the Battles or something?

Reminds me of when Sgt Pepper's album was first released on CD, 20 years to the day from when it was released originally. I was working in a camera shop with this innocent young 18-year-old blonde. The boss (of sorts) went out and bought the CD and came back showing it off (CDs were still new hi-tech stuff back in 1988ish).

Young blonde asked, "Who are the Beatles?"

Then the light bulb came on above her head (you could almost see it slowly illuminating). "Oh, yeah! Wasn't Paul McCartry one of them?"

Oh dear, the uneducated youth.

Anyway, none of this jibber jabber is helping me to find one of these models. I really want to read what they said about the Moke history too. Might be good for a laugh. I might also learn something (?).

Cheers,
Watto.

Thanks Kiwi.

And to all those who have been looking for me.

After me ranting about it at the Mini Club meeting last night, one of the club members told me this morning she has found one for me.

So, you can all stop looking for me, and buy them yourselves.

Cheers,
Watto.
