hey guys
it has got me stumped on how you get this bolt out, its the bolt that connects to the subframe, removed both nuts from the ends and removed the 2 bolts that hold that cover near to the inside of the engine bay,

now it say in the manuel compress the cone using the srevice tool, so remove the cover to that little hole and there is no bolt or nuts holding my cone in place just sits there, so even with out the service tool which i still need to track down i cant compress the cone, so is there any other way i can make the top arm bolt move,

any help appreciated
thanks guys

You need to compress the cone to remove bolt. The compressor screws into the middle of the cone from the top

You shouldn`t need a spring compressor at all really, I never use one.

The trick is to dissconnect the top ball joint from the wheel assy so the top arm is free to move around, pry the top arm pin forwards & cock the top arm a little & jiggle the top arm out

the only hassle would be if the top arm pin has rusted itself in,,, Some people don`t grease the top inner pivot pin at all & the bearings rust up & sieze in there & i`ve often had to cut the pin through to get the arm out

have fun & when it`s all going back together, make sure you fit an adjustable strut (Hi-Lo) & a new ball & cup kit while you`re there

Put the angle grinder through the alloy trumpet, you won't be using it anyway. Then pull it out.

I'm pretty sure I have this problem on one side of my car, it's one of those jobs I'm procrastinating about. Any tips for replacing this on a hydro car?

still no luck, i have the alloy trumpet out the only thing stopping me from getting the rubber cone out is the top bolt, otherwise i would leave him and slide the cone and trumphet

You have undone all the things you need to undo, so it must be just stuck. Give it a gentle hit towards the front of the car.

you need to use some kind of "drifter" that will fit in the hole at the top of the tower in the engine bay. The one you uncovered when you took that little plate off. I found a long socket extension arm worked. And then belt the crap out of it. The cone will drop down. You will need to manoeuvre it to get it out though.
I borrowed the compressing tool from my mechanic. Once I had that it was all very easy. Although I didn't I would agree, adjustable hi-lo is the way to go.
Cheers
Matt

Are you replacing the rubber cone? if you aren't, and you already have the trumpet out, just reinstall with the hi-lo.

Otherwise, you can put the nut on the end of the top arm bolt closest to the driver and then apply some pressure there to lever it out the front of the car.
