The interior switch has red with light green tracer and blue with light green tracer plugged into it. I also dropped my gauge and broke the glass

I thought you said there was a grean wire on the wiper switch instead of the 2 black ones.

If it is a 2 speed motor there should be 2 black wires joined together on the back of the wiper switch. One is grounded, the other goes to the windscreen washer switch. They are necessary for the wiper motor and washer to earth.

The green wire from the motor should go to the fusebox, this is the primary power supply for the wiper motor.

And in answer to your previous question the car does need to be on and you do need some charge in the battery.

OK. it just twigged. :)
If its not an S clubman and has only 3 wires at the switch it must be a single speed wiper motor. In which case ignore my previous wiring list.
You want:
1. nothing
2. dark green
3. nothing
4. red with light green
5. blue with light green

The car doesn't need to be running, the ignition just needs to be in the run postion.
