There were NO pickups or travellers MADE here, and none officially sold through BMC Oz- any you see here are private imports.
Quite a few `pickups' are cut down Oz vans- you can tell by the rear (sloped not vertical).

I know of about 10 genuine utes (a couple in WA, the blue one that circumnavigated australia via ebay, one floating around Wagga somewhere, Dean Canto's x-flow in Sydney, and 2 in sheds, the ex-Nothern Mini Parts one that got crashed into and repaired) but there are probably another 10 hiding away

and I put the number of travellers at 50 - just by the fact that we know of probably 30, and there would be more. 75,000 odd were made, and I believe only from the UK factory.

I know there is a traveller in Lithgow NSW that is a daily driver. I have often wanted to drop in and talk to the owner but... as usual, we are always on our way to somewhere else when we travel through.

But I agree - all private imports.

And those not in the hands of mini-ists are now getting long in the tooth and tatty.

As far as I know there were no Travellers/Countrymen or utes made in Aus.
My father did tell me about a large factory in Sydney in the 60s that had some Mini utes for towing 5th wheel trailers around, but I have no idea why why or where. Apparently they were set up like a Scammell Scarab (google it  ) which were also seen in factories in Sydney and other places.

There were aftermarket van (back seat) conversions done here, not sure who did em now, it was long ago.

Thanks everyone, thats going to make my search for one a little more difficult. I think my best bet will be to inport one, that way I have a little more choice and I can fill it up with nice bits at the same time

get proper import authority, bring a few, sell them off to fund the import of yours, and the nice bits
